The organising committee of the AANZGOSA/ANZHPBA Conference invites abstract submissions (word limit 300) for any topics relevant to the HPB or Upper GI field. All abstracts are to be submitted online.

The theme for the 2022 meeting is “Rocks & Rollers: Adventures from the Hiatus to the Ampulla” promising an exciting and innovative scientific program. Free papers will be considered for the afternoon of Friday 7th October 2022.

All abstracts will be subject to peer review by specialists in the field. Although authors must indicate their preferred form of communication (oral only, poster only, either oral or poster) the type of presentation offered will be the decision of the scientific committee.

Registration It is a condition of abstract submission that the presenting author will pay to register for the conference by the nominated date.

Instructions on how to register will be provided in the notification sent to all submitting authors. Please note the abstract submission deadline is midnight AEST on Monday 1st August 2023. The data presented in the abstract should ideally not have been published or presented at another major meeting.

Please indicate your preference for presentation type (oral combined free paper, oral rapid research paper, E poster only) and select one theme that best describes your abstract. Your selection will not affect the abstract assessment criteria.

A) Oral Presentation – Combined Free Paper Session
Oral papers will be evaluated on the basis of their significance, originality, and clarity of writing. The time allowed for each presentation will be 10 minutes, with 7 minutes for presentation and 3 mins for questions and discussion.
Submissions should be no longer than 300 words (excluding title and other contact details).

B) Oral Presentation – Rapid Research Paper Session
Oral papers will be evaluated on the basis of their significance, originality, and clarity of writing. The time allowed for each presentation will be 5 minutes, with 3 minutes for presentation and 2 mins for questions and discussion.
Submissions should be no longer than 300 words (excluding title and other contact details).

C) Eposter
Will consist of 3 PowerPoint slides

  • All abstracts submitted must be original work.
  • The author is responsible for the accuracy of the abstract.
  • All presenters of accepted submissions are expected to register and pay for attendance at the Conference.
  • The acceptance of an abstract does not imply provision of travel, accommodation or registration for the AANZGOSA/ANZHPBA Conference 2022, nor any other costs associated with preparation or presentation of the abstract, or any costs associated with attendance at the conference.
  • All abstracts will be blind reviewed by members of the Conference Scientific Program Committee. The Committee’s decision is final.
  • By submitting your abstract, you agree to have your abstract (if accepted) published on the AANZGOSA/ANZHPBA Conference website, in the conference program handbook and on CD ROM given to delegates at the Conference.
  • References are not required. If you wish to include them, they must be included in the body of your text and included in the 300 word count. .
  • Proposed studies/presentations should be significantly advanced or completed at the time of abstract submission.
  • Do not include authors names, institution or other identifiers in your abstract as all abstracts will be blind reviewed.
