Professor Chris Halloran
Chris Halloran is Professor of Pancreatic Surgery at the University of Liverpool. He has an extensive clinical practice in all aspects of surgical pancreatology at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
As chief investigator he has run many clinical trials namely: PANasta, Dispact, ChroPac and EUROPAC-2 across the UK and Europe. He is the clinical lead for The European Registry of Hereditary Pancreatic Diseases (EUROPAC) and clinical lead on the Early Diagnosis Initiative for pancreatic cancer and will responsible for the UK-UK-NOD trial within this CRUK program.
He also runs several basic research strands including superparamagnetic iron oxide nano-particle (SPION) delivery and geno-phenotype associations of pancreatitis. In terms of clinical research Chris developed the Liverpool IPMN screening pathway and one of the first Hub and Spoke referral systems for management of acute pancreatitis in the UK. He has also developed new surgical techniques for the treatment of acute pancreatitis namely Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgical Necrosectomy (SILS-N).
